A Sentence
Bhanu Kapil

"I DON'T exist.  I have never existed."

BHANU KAPIL:
I am interested in sentences that have no life.  How can I make them stir? These particular sentences are the core material of my next book, a book as yet unwritten: Ban. For now, I provide a diminutive because, after all, I am holding the place of the novel for no one else but myself.  In an ideal world, I would be a member of a collective and just casually wake up, wander into the kitchen and pour myself a cup of coffee each morning.  And cream.  And sugar.  No sugar.  Therefore, to summarize, I am 42 years old and extremely well kept, for a dog, for a tame wolf, for someone who has no male relatives in proximity.
